Folashade Adekunle, LPC

"I hope to help you achieve meaningful and helpful changes in your life."

As a therapist, I strive to honor each one of my clients' needs. I do this by first understanding the challenges they are facing, listening to what has contributed to the present moment, then assisting in establishing goals for us to work towards during our time together. Through the therapeutic process, I hope to help you achieve meaningful and helpful changes in your life.

Much of the work I do focuses on developing self-compassion and empowerment. I will help you appreciate your strengths, and recognize that we are all human beings who fail, yet we are capable of getting up each day to try again. My approach is through a collaborative lens, since you are the expert of your life. I practice using person-centered and trauma-informed techniques, while drawing from Internal Family Systems and Emotionally Focused Therapy, with a touch of humor.

All psychotherapy I administer comes from a social justice lens that is anti-racist, LGBTIA+ and gender affirming, and allied towards those within non-monogamous/poly relationships.

Who I work with:

Individual Therapy

In life, you will find yourself needing different types of support depending on the circumstances you are doing your best to manage. This can look like grieving a loss, reflecting on your family dynamic, wanting better skills to connect with others, or healing from painful experiences. I will support you in exploring what brings meaning to your life while building insight into your emotions and behavior. The space that we create together will provide you with the safety and connection you need to grow.

Couples Therapy

In my experience working with couples, there are many reasons folks seek additional support for their relationship. Sometimes people find themselves in need of new skills to help repair and create growth in the relationship. Some people are hoping to learn how to reconnect with their partner while managing life transitions and external stressors. There are also people who are wondering what comes next, and if the relationship is working to support all parties' best interests. Regardless of where you and your partner are starting, I want to help you get to a place of insight and understanding so you can have the relationship you desire.

Co-parenting

The end of a relationship can be a painful, yet necessary process where individuals find it is best to move forward separately. Navigating this experience while trying to do what is right for your child(ren) can be even more challenging. I coach parents to develop a relationship built on mutual respect, healthy and realistic expectations of communication, and helpful parenting strategies for the best interest of their child(ren). The goal is for you and your former partner to learn new tools that will help your child(ren) feel supported, loved, and secure.

My rate per 50 minute session is $180.00
